16 killed in US drone strikes in Afghanistan

Two separate US drone strikes have killed at least 16 people and injured several others in southern Afghanistan.

The US military command in Kabul announced on Tuesday that both attacks took place early on Monday in the southern province of Helmand.

A total of 13 militants were killed in the first attack on a house in Now Zad and another three militants were killed in Nad Ali in the second operation, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The drone attacks have outraged Afghans because they have often caused civilian causalities.
