Security sources disclosed that a large number of ISIL Takfiri terrorists were killed and several more were wounded in the artillery attack of the Iraqi army on the terrorists’ positions in the Eastern parts of the city of Ramadi.

“The artillery shelling of the Iraqi army in Eastern Ramadi killed at least 17 ISIL militants,” Al-Sumariya news website quoted an Iraqi security source as saying on Tuesday.

He said that the artillery unit of the Iraqi Army’s Eighth Brigade pounded the terrorists’ positions in Khalidiya Island located 23 kilometers to the East of Ramadi.

On Monday, the Iraqi fighter jets’ operations against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists’ positions near Ramadi, in Anbar province, resulted in the killing of at least 20 senior militant commanders and wounding of some others.

“The Iraqi air force bombed a gathering of the ISIL senior commanders inside a house in al-Bobali area in Khalidiya Island,” Ali Dawoud said

“The bombing resulted in the killing of 20 senior commander of the ISIL, as well as causing great material and human losses,” Dawoud went on to say.

In late August, an Iraqi police official said that more than 10,000 troops from the country’s police and army are ready to launch the final battle for the recapture of Ramadi from the ISIL Takfiri terrorists’ occupation.

General Jafar Saddam from the Iraqi national police force said that the offensive will be “decisive” and will end to liberate parts of the city that are currently under Islamic State control.
