1979 Islamic Revolution anniv. marked worldwide

The 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran (1979) was celebrated in a large number of world countries.

In New York, IRI’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaee hosted a ceremony in the Millennium Hotel with a large number of world countries’ representatives and ambassadors attending, according to IRNA.

During the ceremony, Azerbaijan’s permanent representative to the UN termed as unique the role of the Iranian government and nation in the Middle East developments.

In Georgia, too, in a ceremony to mark the occasion held by the Iranian embassy, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara Levan Varshalomidze congratulated the Iranian government and nation on the 33rd victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and expressed happiness over expansion of ties between the two countries especially in the past two years after the opening of the Iranian chief consulate office in the city of Batumi.

Similar ceremonies were held by the Iranian embassies in other countries including Italy, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, Republic of Azerbaijan, Greece and Brunei.

During a ceremony in Beijing, Iran’s Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari, highlighted the role of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in the Middle East developments as decisive and said the country has turned into a big power in the Middle East.

He said since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has been continuously challenging the bullying powers especially the Great Satan US.

In ceremonies by the Iranian embassy in Malaysia, former prime minister Mahathir Mohammad said the Islamic Republic of Iran was capable of strongly responding to the Zionist regime’s threats.

He also stressed Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology and urged the bullying powers not to try to deprive the Iranian nation from its inalienable right by use of force and threats.
