Two explosions have reportedly taken place in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi as the vote count continues following the country’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

The blasts hit the Somali district of Nairobi on Tuesday, leaving at least one individual injured, AFP reported, quoting a Red Cross report.

“One casualty has been evacuated,” the Red Cross report stated.

There is no word yet about how the blasts occurred and the potential target of the attacks.

It is not clear whether the explosions in the predominantly Somali district of Eastleigh were linked to the vote count.

This is while the neighborhood has been the target of multiple attacks in recent month allegedly by elements that sympathize with Somali’s al-Shabab militants.

The recent elections in Kenya have had a violent start as 19 people, including security forces, were killed in an attack by gunmen hours ahead of the opening of the polling stations in the port city of Mombasa.

In 2007, meanwhile, over 1,100 Kenyans were killed in post-election violence which erupted across the country, while 600,000 were forced to flee their homes.
