200 Frenchmen join foreing-backed terrorists in Syria

A new report says around 200 French nationals have traveled to Syria in the past year to join foreign-backed insurgents fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The report published in French daily Le Monde said many of these French nationals are fighting alongside extremist groups like the al Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front.
The newspaper’s cited figures from the country’s security services and noted dozens of these insurgents have already returned to France.
According to the report, officials in Paris are worried about the risk of terrorist attacks by those returning home from Syria.
On May 18, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said insurgents from 29 different countries are fighting against the government in different parts of the country.
