Developing: Syrian Army troops amassing around Douma as ceasefire period ends
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has moved its troops towards the front-lines in Douma, following the conclusion of the 24 hour period given to Jaysh Al-Islam to surrender the town.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Army is awaiting Jaysh Al-Islam’s response regarding whether or not they will accept the terms presented to them in regards to surrendering Douma.
Jaysh Al-Islam has repeatedly refused to surrender Douma, which is likely to happen again today.
The source added the next few hours in the East Ghouta region will be critical, as the Syrian Arab Army is prepared to kickoff their long-awaited operation to capture the strategic town of Douma.
If the government operation to capture Douma does begin, it will be led by the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces and Republican Guard.
