Slaughterter regime forces shoot, injure Palestinian man in West Bank

Israeli forces have shot and injured a young Palestinian man over an alleged stabbing attack near an illegal settlement bloc in the occupied West Bank in a shooting where a settler was mistakenly killed.

Israeli forces shot and wounded Mamdouh Yousef Amr, 27, near the illegal Gush Etzion settlement bloc south of Bethlehem on Wednesday, the Israeli army said.

The Israeli forces also mistakenly shot and injured a settler in his twenties. Shortly after, the Israeli settler succumbed to his wounds.

But Israeli soldiers are seen in photos standing over the legs of the injured Palestinian to make sure he does not move.

The Palestinian Red Crescent also said the Israeli forces prevented their crew from reaching the site to give medical assistance to the Palestinian man.

Palestinian media, however, reported that the dead Israeli was a soldier.

On Tuesday, a sexagenarian Palestinian was killed as an Israeli settler ran over her and her daughter in Fasayel Village, south of the al-Aqwar area on the outskirts of the city of Ramallah in Israeli-occupied West Bank.

The occupied Palestinian territories have been the scene of heightened tensions. The latest wave of tensions was triggered by Israel’s imposition in August 2015 of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

The restrictions have enraged Palestinians, who are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers frequently storming the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinians say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.

More than 180 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of last October.
