At least two rockets have been fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel, reports say.

Lebanese media said two rockets were launched early on Monday from al-Qlayleh plain near the southern city of Tyre.

Israeli officials said no damage or casualties were reported from the rocket fire. The Israeli military said in a statement that Israeli forces responded with artillery fire after rockets hit open areas north of the coastal city of Nahariya.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier on Friday, Katyusha rockets fired south Lebanon hit an area near the Israeli town of Metula, some 200 kilometers from Tel Aviv.

Lebanon’s military officials said they believed that the recent rockets were fired by a group of Palestinians to express anger over Israel’s aerial campaign on the Gaza Strip, which has killed 173 Palestinians in the past seven days. At least 1,230 people have also been injured since Israel began its airstrikes on the besieged enclave on Tuesday.

Despite international calls for an end to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Tel Aviv regime was hitting Gaza “with growing force” and that there was no end in sight. “We do not know when this operation will end,” he said.

The Israeli military has called up thousands of reservists for an all-out invasion of the Gaza Strip. Hamas has warned that it is prepared to hit back at Israeli forces if the Tel Aviv regime launches a ground attack against Gaza.
