Iran will not initiate military attack

Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami says Iran will not initiate a military operation, but its responses will be purely aggressive.

“Our missiles have aggressive, tactical, strategically deterrent and defensive features, of course we will not initiate any operation but our responses will be purely aggressive,” Fars News Agency quoted Salami as saying on Tuesday.

“Our message in this drill is that our strategy is defensive, but our tactics are aggressive,” he further explained.

On Tuesday, Iran successfully launched 14 surface-to-surface missiles on the second day of the Great Prophet 6 military drills, including Zelzal, Shahab-1, Shahab-2 and Shahab-3.

On the first day of the exercises, which began on Monday, Iran unveiled underground missile silos and fired Fateh-110 missile.

Salami pointed out that Iran will also fire long-range missiles toward targets at sea.

“The IRGC tracks and observes enemy’s objectives and progress in the region and beyond it, and has the capability of conducing deterrent operations and showing swift and retaliatory responses against all enemy targets,” the IRGC commander went on to say.

Iran says the Great Prophet 6 maneuver has completely defensive objectives and will be staged with the message of “peace and friendship.”
