NLF Sources: Ankara Supporting Tahrir Al-Sham Terrorists in Northern Syria

14 January 2019 16:24

The Turkish army is rendering logistical support to Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front), sources close to the Ankara-backed militants said.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted sources close to the Ankara-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) militant group as disclosing that their backers are sending military and logistical aid to Tahrir al-Sham in Northern Syria.

They dismissed Ankara’s official claims about their struggle against Tahrir al-Sham in Northern Syria, and even said Turkey has called on the terrorist group to continue occupying Idlib province.

The sources said that the recent reports that Turkey has detained 13 members of Tahrir al-Sham in the Southern parts of the country have also been released to divert the public opinion after media criticism of Ankara for its support for Tahrir al-Sham.

Turkey has undertaken to disarm Tahrir al-Sham in a demilitarized zone that stretches across several Northern provinces in Syria under an agreement signed with Russia, known as the Sochi Agreement.

Yet, Tahrir al-Sham is expanding its territories in Northern Syria and launches daily attacks on Syria army from its positions within the demilitarized zone.

The Damascus army on Sunday inflicted heavy losses on military convoys of Tahrir al-Sham in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib while fending off terrorists fresh attacks on government forces’ military positions in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib.

In Southeastern Idlib, the Syrian Army fended off an attack by terrorists on its positions from the village of al-Zarzour, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

In Northern Hama, the Syrian Army units also targeted and pounded the terrorists’ movements in Kafar Zita, the outskirts of the town of al-Latamanieh in Northern Hama and Tal Sakhar village in Northwestern Hama, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.
