3 new ministers appointed in Syrian Government

The Syrian government has appointed three new Ministers as part of a cabinet adjustment. Hisham Al-Shaar, who previously served as the Head of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections (HJCE), was appointed as the Minister of Justice.

There were also changes at the Ministry of Economy & Trade, with Samer Al-Khalil taking over, and at the Ministry of Administrative Development, with Salam Al-Saffaf appointed as Minister.

There are currently around two dozen functioning Ministries in Syria, ranging from the Ministry of Defence, to the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform. The People’s Council of Syria has 250 seats, and in 2016, Hadiya Khalaf Abbas, was elected to be the first female speaker of the house.
