Egyptian authorities close Rafah after 3 days of opening

images_News_2013_11_22_1556157629_300_0 Egyptian authorities closed on Thursday evening the Rafah crossing, until further notice, three days after opening it.

Public administration of crossings in Gaza reported that three buses carrying 353 passengers were able to leave the Rafah crossing on Thursday, in addition to a number of ambulances.

It added that 253 passengers have been able to reach the Palestinian side of the crossing, while the Egyptian authorities refused to let 12 other travelers cross the crossing for unknown reasons.

The Egyptian authorities allowed the opening of the Rafah crossing for three days to enable movement of a number of passengers, after 12 days of closure.

The Rafah crossing has frequently been shut down or operating at reduced capacity after the military coup in Egypt, causing a humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
