6 Levies personnel killed in clash with Militants

At least six paramilitary troops have been killed and ten others, including a Spanish national, have been injured in an armed clash between militants and security forces in the restive Balochistan Province in southwest Pakistan.

The incident took place in Koshak area of Mastung on Wednesday, when unidentified armed men attacked a team of foreign cyclists, escorted by Balochistan’s Levis forces.

The injured were taken immediately to a nearby hospital in Mastung for treatment. The condition of the Spanish cyclist has been reported critical.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, though local officials blame the attack on pro-Taliban militants.

The attack comes a day after an explosion ripped through a bus carrying Shia pilgrims in Balochistan’s restive Mastung district, killing over two dozen people and injuring several others.
