7 NATO trucks torched in NW Pakistan

Taliban-linked militants have attacked a NATO supply convoy carrying food supplies for US-led forces in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region of Kurram.

Witnesses say militants looted and torched seven trucks carrying food supplies for US-led forces stationed in neighboring Afghanistan.

The militants have reportedly escaped the area following the attack.

NATO’s supply line has come under repeated attacks by militants opposing the US-led drone strikes inside Pakistan’s tribal belt.

On September 30, Pakistan closed a key border crossing for 10 days to NATO supply trucks in retaliation to the surge in the US cross-border aerial attacks.

During the closure of the route, militants intensified their attacks on NATO trucks and oil tankers, torching dozens of the vehicles.

However, the September move against the US-led forces did not stop the United States military from carrying out its non-UN-sanctioned attacks inside Pakistan’s territory.

Washington claims the air strikes target militants. However, according to numerous figures, the attacks have killed hundreds of civilians in Pakistan since 2008.
