7 wounded in drive-by shooting in San Francisco

Seven people were wounded during a shooting incident in San Francisco Sunday night, said a police spokeswoman.

The drive-by shooting happened around 8:55 pm in Tenderloin neighborhood and all the victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, Sgt. Danielle Newman stated.

No suspect has been arrested or identified so far and further details on the conditions of the victims are still unavailable.

Police are still looking for the shooters but the make and model of the car used by the culprits is still unknown.

The Sunday shooting comes only 2 days after another incident which resulted in the death of a man in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights Park on Friday night.

The man was shot and killed by police, who said he was carrying a gun. But according to a family member, the man was mentally ill and was carrying a Taser and not a handgun.

Gun-related deaths are pervasive in the US. According to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, on average, 32 Americans are killed with guns every day and 140 are treated for a gun-related injury in an emergency room.

Many critics blame the notoriously liberal gun control laws in the US for the country’s high rate of gun violence.
