Abu Marzouk: PA refuses to take over Rafah crossing

Member of Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk said the Palestinian Authority (PA) refused an offer by Hamas stipulating that the Palestinian Presidency Guard takes over the management of Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

Abu Marzouk’s statement came in a post on his Facebook page in response to campaigns against Hamas claiming that the management of the crossing should be turned to the PA in order to be opened.

The Hamas senior official Abu Marzouk said that the PA has no sovereignty over the crossing and it is taking part in the siege imposed on Gaza as well as in the closure of the Rafah crossing. The PA is good at making justifications and disclaimers, he added.

Abu Marzouk underlined that his movement offered the return of the Presidency Guard or everyone who was working previously at the crossing along with the current workers and under the supervision of the PA which refused that.
