AEOI Chief: Arak Heavy Water Reactor to Continue Work

AEOI Chief

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi announced that Iran’s heavy water installations in the Central city of Arak will continue its work with full power.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Senior Shiite Cleric Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani in the holy city of Qom on Thursday.

Salehi also underlined that the Geneva deal between Iran and the world powers is a fruitful agreement the implementation of which will preserve Tehran’s nuclear rights, and said it is based on Iran’s absolute right to peaceful nuclear technology.

He noted that Iran’s nuclear program is pursued under the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The IAEA inspectors arrived in Tehran last week to visit Arak heavy water reactor for a third time.

During their visit to Iran, the IAEA inspectors held a meeting with the officials of the AEOI and then visited Arak heavy water installations on Sunday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a sign of goodwill to remove any possible ambiguity about the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, has given a positive response to the request made by the IAEA to visit the plant, the AEOI said in a statement earlier this month.
