Afghans to probe US airstrike killings

The Afghan government says it is sending a delegation to the country’s east to investigate a recent deadly incident where a US airstrike killed at least five civilians.

According to AFP, the civilians were killed in the attack that was carried out in the eastern province of Nuristan on Wednesday.
According to Afghan officials, the victims were all members of the same family and were not affiliated to any group.
Foreign forces in the country have made no statements regarding the attack so far.
Afghans have become increasingly outraged at the seemingly endless number of deadly assaults by the US-led forces in the country over the past months.
The US claims that its operations target militants, but local people say civilians have been the main victims of the attacks.
