Africa, a top priority in Iran’s foreign policy

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, has said that the African continent is an overriding priority in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy.

According to IRIB World Service, citing IRNA, in an address to Iranians, residing in Ghana, on Sunday night, Iran’s foreign minister added that the African continent has been dominated up to now; and currently awakening is observed among the people of this continent.
He added that the country of Ghana has found its path and given its 8.5 to 14 percent economic growth, an upbeat and bright horizon is envisioned for this African country.
The Iranian foreign minister hoped that upon the implementation of essential feasibility studies, effective steps would be taken for development of Iran’s relations with Africa, especially with the country of Ghana.
Iran’s foreign minister, who has started his tour of Africa as of Saturday, has been scheduled to meet and confer with the Ghanaian officials about avenues for expansion of bilateral relations, especially in political and economic scenes in addition to regional and international topics of importance.
Iran’s foreign minister also takes part in the swearing-in ceremony of the elected Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama.
