Ahmadinejad: Capitalism at impasse

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists that enemies of the Iranian nation and the capitalist establishment have reached a political and economic impasse.

“All opinion polls show that the US is the worst country in the globe. People of the world regard this country as their own enemy,” said President Ahmadinejad in an address to Iranian nationals residing in Kazakhstan in the Kazakh capital of Astana on Tuesday.

He added that the world today is in need of a new thought, stressing, “After Marxism became history, humanitarianism is also nearing its end because they claimed to promote welfare and reduce class gaps, but they were not successful.”

Ahmadinejad hailed Iran’s achievements in various scientific fields and stated that enemies of the Iranian people are fearful of the country’s scientific progress.

“This is the reason that they raise issues such as Iran’s nuclear program and [threaten] war when scientific topics, including satellite and aerospace missile, are discussed,” the Iranian chief executive went on to say.

He added that enemies sought to stop Iran’s advancement in science and its economy by imposing unilateral sanctions “but they suffered a crushing defeat.”

The US and its allies, who accuse Iran of developing a military nuclear program, used this as a pretext to pressure the UN Security Council to impose a fourth round of sanctions against Iran’s financial and military sectors in June, 2010.

Iranian officials have repeatedly denied the charges, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Tehran has a right to peaceful nuclear technology.

Ahmadinejad further reiterated that Western powers are aware that no one would pursue their policies when Iran becomes a model for other countries.

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad arrived in the Kazakh capital of Astana on Tuesday to take part in the 10th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

The SCO is an intergovernmental security organization that was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Iran, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan are the observer states of this organization.
