Ahmadinejad heralds age of light

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed optimism about the future of the world, saying the arrogant powers’ dominance over other nations is fading away.

“A long and black chapter in the history of humanity is coming to a close and an age of enlightenment is about to start,” ILNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying on Friday.

“The arrogant powers have stood against the divine force throughout history and today the arrogant regime in the United States is the biggest obstacle against the cause of the prophets,” he added.

The Iranian president downplayed the diplomatic, military and nuclear capabilities of the US as well as its domineering media, saying its weapons have lost effectiveness and that “history’s unrivaled arrogance is about to collapse.”

“They cannot use arms against Iran because they fear the Iranian nation’s response,” he stressed.

Referring to a new round of UN Security Sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program, Ahmadinejad described the new resolution as a sign of the West’s frustration on the one hand and Iran’s power on the other.

“That they gather together and (still) stop short of a logical response to Iran’s logic, indicates the might of the Iranian nation….The Iranian nation is after changing the world’s unjust system and the establishment of justice,” he said.

Denouncing the Security Council as the “axis of oppression and arrogance in the world,” Ahmadinejad renewed calls for reform in the UN executive body.
