Ahmadinejad Invites Palestinian PM Ismail Haniyeh to Tehran

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh’s Deputy and Hamas Foreign Minister Mohammed Awad confirmed that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has invited Haniyeh for a visit to Iran.

Speaking to FNA, Awad said that Haniyeh received Ahmadinejad’s invitation letter on Tuesday.

He stressed the significance of Haniyeh’s upcoming visit to Iran, and said Haniyeh will review many issues during the trip.

As regards the details of Ahmadinejad’s letter, Awad said that the Iranian president has also stressed the necessity for efforts to break the Gaza blockage and support the Palestinian nation.

President Ahmadinejad also reiterated Iran’s continued support for the oppressed Palestinian nation and confrontation with the Zionist regime’s bullying behavior.

Hamas Prime Minister, for the first time since 2007, left the Gaza Strip late in December on a tour that took him to several Arab and Islamic countries.

Ahmadinejad had earlier in a telephone conversation with Haniyeh congratulated Palestinians on their victory in the prisoners swap deal with Israel which, he described as, a fruit of strong and continued resistance against the zionist regime.
