Ahmadinejad: Iran, Oman Able to Foil Enemy Plots through Cooperation

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Speaker of Oman’s Advisory Council Khaled bin Hilal bin Nasser Al-Mawali reiterated that Tehran and Masqat can foil the plots hatched by the enemies against the two nations through their ties and cooperation.

During the meeting in Tehran on Saturday, Ahmadinejad pointed to the closeness of Iran-Oman policies and viewpoints on international and regional arena, and said that the two countries can play a constructive and useful role in strengthening regional peace and security.

He also referred to the profound and age-old ties between the two nations, and said that our relations are based on our beliefs, so they are very strong.

Referring to enemies’ efforts to create discord among nations, Ahmadinejad said that cooperation between the two countries is more necessary now and the two countries by standing close to each other can thwart enemies’ plots.

Iran and Oman have expanded cooperation in a variety of areas such as economy and defense since Iran’s President Ahmadinejad took office in 2005. The two countries signed a security agreement in August 2009.

In August 2010, Iran and Oman signed an agreement to further boost mutual cooperation in the field of defense.

In December 2010, the Iranian parliament approved a bill that allows Tehran to implement an agreement on security cooperation and coordination with Oman.
