Ahmadinejad: Iran ready to broaden cooperation with Mauritania

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad conferred on Sunday with his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz on expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting, President Ahmadinejad said the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to make use of existing potentials of both countries in line with the two sides’ interests.

Relations between Iran and Mauritania are very friendly, he said adding that Mauritania possesses ample natural resources as well as talented human resources and workforce.

Afrian countries are full of mines and natural resources but unfortunately the western countries have plundered the region to attain their inhuman and colonial policies and imposed poverty and backwardness for those nations, pointed out the Iranian president.

Iran stands by all nations mainly the Islamic ones which are under the tyranny of capitalism and are deprived of development and progress, he said.

The Mauritanian president, for his part, said most of his country’s resources are at the disposal of European companies but they refuse to pay remarkable amount for their exploitation of natural resources of the country.

There are ample untapped economic potentials in Mauritania which once used will benefit both sides (Iran, Mauritania), he said.

He also welcomed active presence of Iranian public and private companies in his country for execution of development projects.

The two sides also explored grounds for expansion of all out cooperation between the two countries.

After a short stay in the country, the Iranian president will leave Mauritania for Sudan to confer with the country’s President Omar Hassen Al-Beshir on ways of promoting bilateral relations and discuss regional developments.

President Ahmainejad and his high ranking entourage left New York Sunday morning for Nouakchott where they were officially welcomed by the Mauritanian president.
