Ahmadinejad says Happy New Year

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has congratulated all Christians, particularly Iranian Christians, on the occasion of New Year, wishing them a happy and prosperous year.

In a message issued on Tuesday, President Ahmadinejad felicitated all Christians and monotheists of the world ahead of the New Year, IRNA reported.

In his message, Ahmadinejad said there is only one way people can attain salvation from the social, political, and economic disorder of the modern world, and that is by returning to the manners of the divine prophets, who sought love and justice.

The Iranian president also wished all the world’s Christians a year full of happiness and prosperity and expressed hope that the world would witness a time abundant with spirituality, altruism, and philanthropy.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of Christmas, the auspicious birth anniversary of Prophet Jesus (PBUH), noting that the prophet was a pioneer of friendship, brotherhood, peace, and justice.

The Majlis speaker said Muslim nations expect Christians to encourage and compel their governments to uphold the spirit of the teachings of peace, friendship, and opposition to oppression promulgated by Jesus (PBUH).

“Today, the world is in need of spirituality, moral values, and justice more than ever… Divine religions are the best advocates of ethics, spirituality, and justice. Those who create differences between divine faiths and fan the flames of dispute between Islam and Christianity… are actually using religion as a tool to pursue their adventures across continents,” part of his message read.
