Al-Azhar mufti denounces Wahhabists, praises Grand Ayatollah Sistani

An Al-Azhar University professor has criticized Wahhabists on their exhumation of a Prophet’s companion.
Sheikh Ahmed Khalil Ahmed said that exhumation of Muslim tombs was religiously prohibited. “Why on earth you, Wahhabists, exhumed the remains of Prophet’s close companion?” asked he.

Khalil Ahmed, who was talking to Takfiri TV network Safa, addressed those exhuming the tomb of Hujr ibn Adi. “If Shiite religious authority the Grand Ayatollah Sistani issues a decree on exhuming the tomb of Abu Hanifa, what would be your reaction?” asked he rhetorically. “But he would not issue such a decree,” he replied.

“The exhuming of Muslim tombs is prohibited. This is not an Islamic conduct. Ayatollah Sistani would not issue a decree, because he has been disciplined himself with the ethics of the Prophet, but your conduct…”

The dialogue broke out; since Safa, whose affiliation is evident, ends the dialogue itself since the mufti’s remarks was not in accord with their policies.
