All Freedom-seekers of the World Celebrate 11th February: President Rouhani

President Rouhani

Iranian President , Hassan Rouhani, has emphasized that all freedom-seekers of the world celebrate 11th February.

According to IRIB World Service, speaking to a multi-million strong crowd of marchers and people gathered at Tehran’s Azadi square at midday, Tuesday, celebrating the 35th anniversary of victory of Iran’s Islamic revolution, President Rouhani emphasized that the victory of the Islamic revolution was not just a victory for a particular group, tribe, ethnicity, or faction – rather it was a victory for the entire Iranian nation ; for all the Iranians.

In further remarks, President Rouhani said the Islamic revolution does not rely, and has never relied, on foreign powers. He added: “It was the highly-motivated Iranian nation, motivated by Islam, which successfully stood up to and resisted the enemies, and their attempts to humiliate”.

President Rouhani said exactly 35 years ago, on such a day, the Iranian nation, under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) , overthrew an oppressive dictatorship and emerged victorious in the face of those who wanted to keep Iran under their own domination. He pointedly added: “The Americans thought that they could control and rule over Iran and the Iranian people, and they constantly interfered in Iran, but with the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation decidedly rejected the meddling colonialists and told them a firm no”.

Addressing Western politicians , President Rouhani said: “The Westerners know very well that the route of sanctions is misguided and plain wrong, but they should also know that if they persist with their threats and sanctions, then they will suffer the same (unpleasant ) fate as all the oppressors and tyrants throughout history”.

Turning to the nuclear issue, and addressing the 5+1 Group of countries , President Rouhani said the current nuclear negotiations are a historic opportunity for the Europeans and the Americans — if they act according to laws and according to mutual respect, and if they respect the lawful rights and interests of the Iranian nation, then they will receive a positive and appropriate response from the Iranian government and the great Iranian nation.
