Ambassador Ahmad: Israel’s Aggression on Egyptian, Palestinian Land Constitutes Evidence that Israel Is Not Interested in Peace

Syria’s Ambassador to the Arab League Youssef Ahmad said the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian and the Egyptian territories constituted new evidence that the Zionist entity is not interested in peace in the region.

Ambassador Youssef was speaking as head of Syria’s delegation to the meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee held at the level of foreign ministers on Tuesday in Doha, capital of Qatar.

The committee stressed in a statement commitment to the Arab decision to go to the UN to gain the full membership of the state of Palestine in the international organization to the line of June 4th, 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital, in the absence of any clear stance on resuming the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

The Syrian Ambassador called on the Committee to adopt a clear stance condemning the Zionist Israeli aggression on the Arab land in Egypt and Palestine and demanding the international community and the UN to take practical measures to hold the aggressor responsible for its crime.

Ambassador Ahmad reiterated Syria’s stance supporting going first to the UN General Assembly to gain Palestine full membership since the opportunities of success in eliciting the membership at the Security Council are lacking in the face of the American veto.
