Americans hold pro-Palestinian rally in Phoenix, Arizona

373227_Gaza-WarDemonstrators in the US state of Arizona have condemned Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people amid protests around the world against the bloody offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Holding Palestinian flags, protesters marched in downtown Phoenix, Arizona’s capital and largest city, to condemn the Israeli aggression.

The protest was held after the Eid al-Fitr prayers to mark the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

The Israeli onslaught on the Palestinian people has sparked angry protests around the world in recent days, with protesters calling for an immediate end to the massacre in Gaza.

The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s 22-day deadly military offensive has risen to at least 1,130 people.

Israel says 53 Israelis have been killed so far; however, Palestinian fighters say they have killed over a hundred Israeli troopers.

The new figures come as nearly 20 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in the latest Israeli attacks overnight. The houses of several Hamas officials, including that of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, also come under fire.

Meanwhile, many US lawmakers in Congress are pressing President Barack Obama to take no action that puts pressure on Israel to halt its military assault in the besieged enclave. Some have even criticized the administration’s effort to halt the violence.

The leader of the US House of Representatives, House Speaker John Boehner, said Monday that support for Israel must be America’s main focus and not peace mediation by the Obama administration.
