Americans hold US government complicit over Israeli strikes on Gaza

Hundreds of people have taken to streets in the US to express their anger over the recent wave of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, holding the US officials responsible for the aggression.

The demonstrators gathered outside the Israeli Consulate in New York on Thursday, calling on the US and Israeli officials to put an end to the war on the Palestinian territory.

“This is not right. It’s not an equal battle between Israel and the Palestinians. They’re launching those rockets into Israel for self defense and that’s it. Israel has no right to do that to the Palestinians, they are innocent people dying,” Sofia Ahsanuddin, a protesters, said during the rally.

“We’re here to support Palestine. We’re here to support humanity. People are being killed every day and it’s not fair. We need to wake Americans up. Your tax dollars are going … to kill Palestinians, children, women, men, all of them. Civilians are dying. We need to support them,” said another demonstrator, Leena Abdallah.

Reports say that protesters carried banners and signs reading “Palestinians are freedom fighters” and “Free, free Palestine.”

Earlier in the day, Americans also gathered outside the White House in Washington to express their anger over recent Israeli strikes on Gaza Strip, calling the US President Barack Obama a war criminal. The protesters also demanded the president return the Nobel Peace Prize he received in 2009.

Demonstrators said they will be protesting throughout the weekend as fears grow over a possible Israeli ground invasion and a rising Palestinian death toll.

Some 25 people have been killed and more than 250 others injured in the new wave of attacks since November 14.

The Israeli regime frequently carries out airstrikes and other attacks on the Gaza Strip, saying the acts of aggression are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, in violation of international law, disproportionate force is always used and civilians are often killed or injured.
