The Russian Defense Ministry announced the number of Syrian settlements that have joined the US-Russia-brokered ceasefire deal reached 207 after a Lattakia province settlement signed the truce agreement.

“The total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements, has reached 207,” the ministry said in a daily bulletin on its website, Ria Novosti reported.

According to the bulletin, talks on joining ceasefire regime have continued with field commanders of armed opposition groups active in the Damascus, Hama, and al-Quneitra provinces.

The development comes as Russian military delivered two metric tons of humanitarian aid to the Syrian province of Lattakia.

“Low-income families of Slayeb al-Turkman in Lattakia province have received 2 tons of humanitarian cargos with flour, rice, and canned foods.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting a number of militant groups.

Russian servicemen have been carrying out regular humanitarian aid deliveries to various parts of Syria amid internal hostilities.
