Anti-Iran US bid draws firm reaction

Following Washington’s false assassination allegations against Tehran, Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi insists that Iran will respond to any anti-Iran efforts by the US with a greater intensity.

Last week, the US Justice Department accused Iran of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

Tehran has rejected the charges, saying that the publicity stunt fabricated by Washington is an attempt to deflect international attention from the anti-corruption and anti-corporatism protests currently rocking the country.

Calling into question the [lack of] “evidence” that the US has produced for its accusations against Tehran, Moslehi asked, “What has become of the world, wherein scripts of inferior comedy movies are presented as intelligence documents and the same evidence is dispatched to the UN Security Council?”

On Monday, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in a suspiciously hasty move, said he had referred correspondence concerning US allegations against Iran to the world body’s Security Council.

Moslehi added that Iran’s intelligence apparatus has accurate information pertaining to protests and objections against the purported US allegations on Iran even within Washington’s government circles.

The Iranian intelligence minister further noted that the US intelligence agencies have suffered severe blows in recent years and had unsuccessfully attempted to promote the allegation project against Tehran in efforts to address its failures.

The massive movements started in the World of Islam under the title of ‘The Islamic Awakening’, which is still expanding, is one of the reasons that the US intelligence infrastructure has been thrown into doubt, Moslehi said.

The Iranian official insisted that the problem with the US throughout the world is more of an intelligence failure rather than a military challenge.
