Aqsa Foundation: occupation escalates its excavations around Al-Aqsa

Zaki Igbaria, head of “Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and heritage” in 1948-occupied Palestine, warned of the expansion of occupation’s excavations down and around the vicinity of Al Aqsa Mosque, and specifically in the region of the Umayyad palaces located in the southern side of Al-Aqsa.

Igbaria pointed out that the occupation seeks to turn the entire region to Biblical-Talmudic Gardens, around al-Aqsa and the Old City of Jerusalem.

He said in a press statement: “Al-Aqsa Foundation’s crews observed that the excavations in the Umayyad palaces have been recently escalated, and take place under the supervision of the Israeli Antiquities Authority by foreign and Israeli workers.”

He also added that the workers have been using special tools for the excavations and that they have been stealing the historical stones they find, to be transported to the stores of the “Antiquities Authority” in the Rockefeller Museum, which had been originally a Palestinian Museum.

The head of Al-Aqsa Foundation considered the excavations in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque as destruction and stealing of the Islamic monuments and Endowments in Al-Aqsa Mosque in an attempt to Judaize it.
