Arab Journalists Federation Calls on Arab Foreign Ministers Council to Reconsider Decision to Ban Broadcasting of Syrian Channels

The Federation of Arab Journalists called on the Arab Foreign Ministers Council to reconsider its decision to ban Arabsat and Nilesat from broadcasting Syrian satellite channels, affirming that this decision violates freedom of opinion and expression and prevents Syrian media from reaching the Arab and global public opinion.

In a letter sent to the Syrian Journalists Union on Tuesday, the Federation said that it asked the Arab League Secretary General to suspend this decision, stressing that the Syrian media represents the Syrian government’s stance and reflects the viewpoints of significant segments of the Syrian people, and so this decision constitutes a seizure of freedom of opinion and expression.
