Arming Palestinians helps prevent genocide by Israel: Iran MP

373468_Palestinian-fightersAn Iranian lawmaker says arming Palestinian resistance fighters in their battle against Israel helps prevent the genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli regime.

“Arming Palestinians today is a strategy and macro policy that has been outlined by Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei], since this policy will have an effective role in preventing the genocide of Palestinians by the Zionists,” said member of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ismail Kowsari on Wednesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei said on Tuesday that the international community, particularly the Muslim world, “is duty-bound to arm the Palestinian nation as much as it can.”

In similar comments on July 23, the Leader said armed resistance by Palestinians was “the only way” to confront the Zionist regime of Israel.

Kowsari said Palestinians should be provided with sufficient military hardware and equipment in order to enable them to form a united and powerful front against the occupying regime of Israel and their supporters.

The Iranian legislator further criticized the silence of the international community and the position adopted by certain Islamic countries in the face of Israeli massacre of the defenseless people of Gaza.

He called on the Islamic countries to react to the “painful catastrophes” in Gaza.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing houses and burying families in the rubble. Israeli forces also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

So far, at least 1,364 people have been killed and thousands others injured by the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal sliver despite pressure from the international community. At least 7,680 others have also been wounded.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.

While Tel Aviv confirms 56 Israelis have been killed in the war, Hamas sources put the number much higher.
