Assad will likely retake all of Syria: US intel chief

“President Bashar al-Assad has largely defeated the opposition and is now seeking to regain control over all of the Syrian territory”, Coats said during a Senate committee hearing.

Coats told the Senate committee that while Assad would retake the entire country, he would do so by avoiding conflict with both Turkey.

“The regime will focus on retaking territory while seeking to avoid conflict with Israel and Turkey,” he added.
