Assassinated by Armed Terrorist Group Directed by Foreign Intelligence Agencies

Tribes and social figures in Hasaka governorate denounced the assassination of nationalistic opposition figure Mashaal Tammo and the injuring of his son at the hands of an armed terrorist group in Qamishli on Friday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the clans and social groups of Hasaka governorate said that there’s a huge conspiracy targeting Syria, using lies to undermine unity of rank and national unity.

The statement said that Syria’s strength is based on unity among its masses, and that its people will confront this conspiracy and all those who tamper with the safety of the country and citizens.

It also called for rejecting foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs, affirming that the Syrians make their own decisions and don’t need external dictations.

On a relevant note, the official spokesman of the Syrian Human Rights Network (SHRN) Ahmad Khazem stressed that Tammo was assassinated because of his staunch rejection of foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs, saying that the assassination was carried out by armed terrorist groups directed by foreign intelligence agencies.

In a statement, the SHRN said that the assassination of Tammo is an assassination of nationalistic thought and sense and a loss for the Syrian opposition, in addition to constituting a desperate attempt at undermining the Syrian unity of rank.

The SHRN’s statement also lauded Tammo’s stances which rejected violence and armed action in all its forms.
