General Secretory of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought placed stress on the telling role of Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr in current Islamic moves in Iraq.

Speaking in a commemorating ceremony held for Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, General Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohsen Araki placed accentuation on the political perspective of Ayatollah al-Sadr and hailed his role in current Islamic movement in Iraq, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

According to General Secretory of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah al-Sadr was an initiative jurisprudent in the political area.

Ayatollah Araki, elsewhere in his remarks, beckoned to the time, Islamic Dawa Party was established by Ayatollah al-Sadr and Allameh Seyyed Morteza Asgari. “Back to 70s of the past century, two main parties stood in Iraq, i.e. Baath and Communism parties,” mentioned Ayatollah Araki.

“The majority of university students and well-equated people in Iraq were the members of these parties,” said the grand Ayatollah stating at that very point Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and Allameh Seyyed Morteza Asgari had figured out without a political construction, they would not able to stand against the parties.

“Given that, they founded Islamic Dawa Party,” said General Secretory of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought stressing through such way they could fulfill and advance their set objectives.

In another line of his remarks, the senior cleric stressed, Ayatollah al-Sadr had placed Velayat Faqih as a basis for his political activities and in doing so he was very successful.

As to Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr’s personality, it can be easily said that he was without any doubt a genius, without a doubt a personality who was ahead of his time.

Shaheed al-Sadr lived for 45 years, which according to the average life span of our scholars (ulama) is a very short period of time. In 45 years, anyone studying Islam is still considered “young”. But in these 45 short years, Shaheed al-Sadr revolutionized the academic and political aspects of his society in a way that very few do.

Very rarely do personalities such as Shaheed al-Sadr’s appear in history. Rarely does anyone have such an impact in such a short period of time, at such a young age, and at a time that was one of the worst in the history of Islam.
