Ayatollah Taskhiri urges clerics to introduce Islamic principles in Europe

“Each Mufti in Europe can make it a practice to introduce the divine religion of Islam,” pointed out President of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri urging religious clerics to make a move for delineating Islamic principles for non-Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Addressing the opening ceremony of a two-day conference entitled “”Leaders of Europe’s Islamic Communities” mounted in Croatia, Ayatollah Taskhiri hailed the activities and services advanced by Islamic Center of Zagreb in different areas.

The senior adviser to Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran underlined that the center had played a constructive and telling role in the developments in the Balkans over the past 25 years.

The senior cleric further lauded the standing relations between Muslims and followers of other divine religion in Croatia adding, “it can serve as a paradigm for other European countries.”

President of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought paid tribute to the Croatian government and officials for providing the ground and support for the European country’s Muslim community.

Referring to Ayatollah Khamenei’s message to Western youth, elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Taskhiri pointed out, “Supreme Leader of Iran has urged, in this message, the youth in Europe and America to read the Quran and contemplate its principles.

The conference in Zagreb, attended religious leaders and personalities from 14 European countries, including Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Sweden, Macedonia, Albania, Hungary, Norway, Britain and Russia, marks the 100th anniversary of the recognition of Islam as a religion in Croatia’s constitution.
