Iran beefs up embassy security in crisis areas

An Iranian lawmaker says the Foreign Ministry has increased security for the Islamic Republic embassies located in crisis areas.

According to the reports, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who heads the Majlis committee, on Saturday said: “The recent bombings in front of the Iranian Embassy in the Lebanese capital Beirut and the assassination of an Iranian diplomat in Yemen were discussed in detail in a meeting of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.”
He noted that these issues have been discussed with Foreign Ministry officials as well.
Boroujerdi added: “As far as we know, the Foreign Ministry has made special arrangements for [keeping] our embassies [safe] in crisis regions.”
On November 19, 2013, twin blasts outside the Iranian Embassy in Beirut left at least 25 people dead, including six Iranian nationals, and injured over 150 others.
