Azeri Muslim activist student found dead after arrested and missing
An Islamist Azerbaijani student and political activist who had gone missing for more than ten days, has been found dead, reported Press TV.
Mammadov had been arrested in December during protests over the detention of Haji Tale Bagirov, a prominent Islamist activist.
The secular government of Azerbaijan Republic has severely limited Islamic activities and religious freedom over the past years.
Mammadov had recently translated remarks and speeches of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini about Muharram to Azerbaijani, which were published on Islamazeri.
The Islamazeri website reported that Mammadov, a student of Oriental Studies at Baku State University and a media activist, who had gone missing since November 16, was drowned in sea.
