Bahraini activist’s health deteriorates over hunger strike

The daughter of the detained Bahraini human rights activist, Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, says her father’s health continues to deteriorate over his hunger strike against the Manama regime’s ‘illegal detention,’.

Khawaja is on the verge of death after a nearly two-month-long hunger strike.

His family has issued an urgent appeal to save his life, saying the activist may suffer a cardiac arrest at any time.

“It is outrageous from the authorities that do not listen to the words calling for the release of someone who doesn’t even can talk,” Bahraini political activist Jafar al-Hasabi told Press TV.

Khawaja began his strike to protest his illegal detention at a ruling by a Bahraini military court, which sentenced him to life in prison.

Last week, Amnesty International called on Manama to release him because of fears for his life.

Bahraini revolutionaries have been holding demonstrations on an almost daily basis, calling for his release. They are said to plan fresh mass rallies to demand freedom for the prominent activist.

However, the Zionist Puppet Al-Khalifa regime continues to defy domestic and international calls to free the activist.
