Bahraini women hold Protest Rally

Bahraini women have staged a demonstration to protest against the continued crackdown on popular protests by the Saudi-backed forces loyal to the Al Khalifa royal family.

On Saturday dozens of women marching in the village of Samaheej on Muharraq Island, chanting slogans against King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The demonstration comes a day after Saudi-backed Bahraini forces killed two opposition protesters, including a woman.
Anti-government demonstrations continue across Bahrain, despite the regime’s brutal crackdown on protests demanding a constitutional monarchy.

Saudi-backed troops have killed dozens of people and arrested hundreds more since protests broke out in February, inspired by the January revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia.

The Al Khalifa regime has also kidnapped many people, including opposition figures, journalists, teachers, and students.

Doctors and nurses have especially been targeted by security forces for helping protesters injured during the government’s bloody repression of peaceful demonstrations.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on Bahrain’s King Hamad to uphold international human rights norms in the government response to the opposition protests.
