Battles rage in Aleppo, a new Egyptian militia group joins ISIL

Aleppo – Free Army militia have targeted today the Municipality of Aleppo city with a number of locally-made missiles, but according to activists, no casualties were reported. On the other hand, “al-Tawheed Brigade” – an affiliate of Free Army militia – has downed a Syrian Army helicopter near the army’s Brigade 80 located in rural Aleppo.
Heavy battles also took place in Aleppo’s suburbs in al-Shiek Yusef Hill between Syrian Army and ISIL, and activists said that both sides sustained casualties. In other context, the battalion of Usoud al-Khilafah (Caliphate’s Lions) – constituted mainly of Egyptian fighters and its headquarters located in a village along the Syrian Coast – has pledge allegiance to Abu Bakher al-Baghdadi, the emir of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
