Pres. Rouhani: Killing of Yemenis must be stopped

 

President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to develop relations and cooperation with Oman in all fields”.

President had a meeting with Oman’s Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi, and expressed the friendly, brotherly and growing relations and cooperation between the two countries and emphasised the need for efforts to develop and strengthen the relations between Tehran and Muscat.

Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to develop relations and cooperation with Oman in all fields”.

Emphasising the need for deepening banking ties and facilitating merchants’ visit to the two countries, the President said: “Today, there are many capacities and abilities of investment in different sectors, such as petrochemical, energy, steel, aluminium, railways and ports development, in which Omani investors can participate”.

The president emphasised that the development of Chabahar and Jask ports and the Chabahar railway to Zahedan will have good effects on the development of economic relations between the countries of the region.

Dr Rouhani pointed out that today Iran and Oman have a heavy responsibility in solving regional issues and should use their experiences to promote peace and stability in the region, adding: “The more insecure the region is, the more countries of the region will suffer”.

The president described the humanitarian situation in Yemen as extremely critical and stressed the need to send medical and food aid to the Yemeni people and to end the bombing and killing of people, expressing hope that cooperation between Iran and Oman could help the Yemeni people and establish peace in this country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi said in the meeting: “Oman has always called for establishment of comprehensive and maximal relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran”.

He added: “We are working hard to take new steps in the direction of deepening commercial and cultural cooperation between Tehran and Muscat”.

“Merchants and businesspeople of the two countries must be encouraged to engage in closer cooperation and joint ventures,” he said.

Bin Alawi also described development of the North-South Corridor and Chabahar Port effective in international trade and called for the development of relations between the two countries in various sectors, including energy, transit, port and commercial and economic relations.

“The conflicts in Yemen have nothing but misery and disaster for the region, and we must strive to put an end to the killing of people in the area as soon as possible,” said Omani foreign minister, thanking the Islamic Republic of Iran for its commitment and firmness to strengthen peace and stability of the region.
