US Secretary of State John Kerry’s accusation that Iran is “destabilizing” Yemen shows the height of Washington’s hypocrisy and Orwellian doublespeak, a writer and political analyst in Boston says.

Kerry on Wednesday blamed Tehran for providing support to Ansarullah fighters of the Houthi movement in Yemen, which has been under attack from Saudi Arabian warplanes since last month.

“There are obviously supplies that have been coming from Iran. There are a number of flights every single week that have been flying in. Iran needs to recognize that the US is not going to stand by while the region is destabilized,” Kerry said.

“This is the height of hypocrisy,” Daniel Patrick Welch said in an interview with Press TV on Friday. “It is incredible to hear Secretary of State ‘Frankenstein’ John Kerry condemning Iran for meddling in the foreign affairs of other [states].”
“It’s like an older sibling, or a parent, thinking that they can bully and browbeat a child: ‘You can’t do this, but I can, of course. Don’t do what I do, do what I say.’”

Saudi Arabia’s military aggression against Yemen started on March 26, without a UN mandate, in a bid to restore power to the fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

More than 540 people have been killed and thousands have been injured in Yemen since the military offensive began in the Arab country, according to the World Health Organization.

Ansarullah Houthi revolutionaries say Hadi, who is now in Riyadh, lost his legitimacy as president of Yemen after he fled the capital to Aden in February.

Welch said it is incredible that the United Sates has assigned Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy, to return democracy to its neighbor.

“And what they chose for the instrument of their bludgeon? This cancer of a kingdom in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia! The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is supposed to return democracy to Yemen! It’s laughably stupid,” he said.
“It makes no sense at all, except for within the bubble of the press corps of the State Department.”

Welch said that “these people who have no problem with this Orwellian doublespeak.”

“Hadi fled because there is an armed rebellion in his country, and he has to be reinstalled, but [Ukraine’s former President Viktor] Yanukovych fled at the behest of the US-backed and the US-financed coup – supported by neo-Nazis – in Ukraine and that somehow is OK,” he said.

“The Russians are aggressive for attempting to push back on that, but the US can go around and do this, destabilizing the region!

“This is from the king of destabilization. The US Empire is the empire of chaos; it sows chaos on purpose in order to reap the benefits of disaster.

“Capitalism of hegemonic intrusion into extraction of resources, it is the global center of this kind of meddling and yet they have the audacity and the hypocrisy and the gall to come out and chastise Iran.”
