Big powers behind massacre of Rohingya Muslims: Iran MP

The global hegemonic powers are behind the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, an Iranian lawmaker says.

“The genocide of Muslims in Myanmar is another crime by the hegemonic states against the Muslim people,” said Nader Qazipour, a member of Iran’s Majlis (parliament), on Friday.

The big powers such as the US and Britain cannot tolerate the unity and progress of Muslims and they violate the rights of Muslims in different countries through criminal schemes, he added.

The Iranian legislator lashed out at the international human rights organizations for their silence over the massacre of the Rohingyas and pointed out that such global bodies along with mainstream media have been formed to serve the interests of the hegemonic powers.

Qazipour called for more unity and convergence among Islamic nations in an attempt to prevent the spread of similar crimes against Muslims.

The Zionist Puppet government of Myanmar refuses to recognize Rohingyas, who it claims are not natives and classifies as illegal migrants, although the Rohingyas are said to be Muslim descendants of Persian, Turkish, Bengali, and Pathan origin, who migrated to Myanmar as early as the 8th century.

The UN says decades of discrimination have left the Rohingyas stateless, with Myanmar implementing restrictions on their movement and withholding land rights, education and public services.

Reports say 650 Rohingya Muslims were killed as of June 28 during clashes in the western region of Rakhine in Myanmar. This is while 1,200 others are missing and 80,000 more have been displaced.
