Blast kills NATO soldier in Afghanistan

In another bloody day for NATO troops in Afghanistan, a bomb blast kills a foreign soldier in the southern parts of the war-weary country.

NATO has withheld the nationality of the soldier and the exact location of the incident.

This is the third foreign soldier to have died over the past 24 hours in Afghanistan.

Earlier on Monday, two British soldiers were killed in separate incidents.

At least 178 foreign troops have been killed in Afghanistan since the start of 2010.

According to statistics, 2009 was the deadliest year for foreign troops stationed in Afghanistan, with a total of 520 US-led soldiers killed.

While the number of American forces in Afghanistan has doubled since 2008, the US has plans to deploy 30,000 extra troops by August.

NATO currently has 120,000 soldiers in the war-torn country.
