Pakistani police say bomb attacks have targeted two schools designated as polling stations for the country’s upcoming elections.

According to AFP, on Thursday, a boys primary school and a middle school came under bomb attacks at the village of Chattar in Naseerabad district of the southwestern province of Baluchistan.
District police chief Tahir Allauddin said “The school buildings were designated as polling stations for the May 11 general election and we think that they were targeted for this reason.”
He said three rooms of the middle school in the village, about 350 kilometers southeast of the city of Quetta, were destroyed and both rooms of the primary school were demolished.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombings.
Dozens of people have been killed in direct attacks on Pakistani politicians and political parties since April 11.
Pakistan will hold its National Assembly elections on May 11. The National Assembly has a total of 342 members, of which 272 are elected by popular vote. The last National Assembly elections were held in February 2008.
