Boroujerdi calls for expansion of Iran-Egypt relations

Head of Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Tuesday called for expansion of Iran-Egypt relations and enhanced cooperation of the two countries private sectors.

Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Egypt’s Interest Section Alaeddin Hassan Youssef in Tehran.

Boroujerdi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop economic cooperation with Egypt.

He called for cosmopolitan cities of Tehran and Cairo to broaden ties and cooperation and turn into an exemplary model for other countries.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Egypt play very significant and prominent role in Muslim world, he said adding that relations between Tehran and Cairo in the wake of the current revolution in Egypt is of prime importance for all Muslims.

On the upcoming conference on Intifada of Palestine which is to be held in Tehran, he said the event could be considered as a turning point which helps restore the legitimate rights of Palestinian nation.

The head of Egypt’s Interest Section Alaeddin Hassan Youssef in Tehran, for his part, described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a very important country.

‘Iran have vital impacts on regional developments as well as the Muslim World.’

New Egypt officials who came to power after the country’s revolution call for expansion of relations with Iran, he said.

Referring to the new trend of electoral reforms in the country, he expressed the hope to witness expansion of relations with the Islamic countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A group of Iranian merchants and businessmen are to visit Egypt to study grounds for expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, he said.
